AI is becoming increasingly more accessible. ChatGPT’s newest model boasts this, with its mission describing “making advanced AI tools available to as many people as possible,” which is detailed in the name itself: the o in GPT-4o stands for “omni” or “all.” In addition to accessibility, OpenAI wants to focus on more “natural human-computer interaction” by creating contextual relationships and a memory of all previous conversations.
ChatGPT’s earlier model, GPT-3.5 Turbo, could use text input and output as well as complete virtually any written task thrown at it. Now, GPT-4o introduces a whole new realm of possibility with analyzing data, being able to process and respond to photos, view uploaded files, track all of a user’s previous messages, and create responses that are also from the web. GPT-3.5 was the original model for ChatGPT Free users, but now GPT-4o is open to all free users for a limited time each day.
A key feature of GPT-4o is creativity. It can generate and edit many creative tasks – including learning a user’s writing style. The human-computer connection is also clear by real-time responses and contextual awareness. The introduction of picture analysis is another big technological advancement. Not only can GPT-4o examine pictures, but it can also create charts and respond to uploaded files. The ability to use video is also progressing, with the AI now being able to view, understand, and generate short videos. It can respond to visual elements in real time and even process audio files. Using the generated voice, GPT-4o can completely change tones, sing, and change the speeds of communication!
The safety and security of GPT-4o are clear, as it is 82% less likely to respond to requests for disallowed content. It’s also 40% more likely to produce accurate responses than GPT-3.5. OpenAI also states that GPT-4o is twice as fast, 50% cheaper, and has five times the rate limit as its predecessors. GPT-4o brings a new level of accessibility, with new advancements being open to the public for free. As GPT-4o learns and adapts, the future of AI systems will be reshaped, and their impact on daily life will be clear.
